The Veteran Landing Net is dedicated to honoring those who have served our country. Inspired by Rustic Angler Forge’s early collaboration with Project Healing Waters—a program aiding disabled veterans through fly fishing—it pays tribute to the sacrifices of veterans, including my own family members who served in the Army, Navy, and Air Force since WWII. Featuring an 8-inch wide, 16-inch deep net with a large radius top, it symbolizes the freedom to fish in peace. Crafted from three layers of 1/8-inch hardwood, steamed, glued, and bent into a durable frame, the net is finished with tung oil, spar varnish, and a rubber net for fish safety. Aged brass D-rings and tubing enhance durability, while the hardwood handle, adorned with brass pins for measurement, offers comfort and a unique look. Handmade in Colorado’s San Luis Valley—home to some of the state's finest trout waters—each net is one of a kind, blending heirloom quality with everyday functionality for creating lasting memories on the stream.
